Wilkins

Dear Wilkins friends and families,

This week we have welcomed back our team member Miss Ellen! The children and staff were so excited to see her and she is very much looking forward to getting to know all of our new class members. Next week we say goodbye to Mrs Nicole while she goes on maternity leave with her third child. We wish her all the best and we will keep you updated on the new baby!

In the Wilkins room we have been exploring cause and effect. We are constantly working on early maths concepts and discussing things such as what is big and little, what is heavy or light, and how or why things move the way they do. The children have been working together observing how bottles roll, how to move objects cohesively and making their learning meaningful though play.

Popular games that have come from the materials on offer this week were bottle rolling to see who's bottle reaches the end first, ramps and tunnels for toy cars, and being builders moving big objects in small groups. These types of play experiences help promote children's development socially, mentally, physically and cognitively. By observing the children and taking note of the language being used throughout these experiences helps us scaffold future learning.

Dear Dad's,
On the 1st of September we are celebrating Fathers Day by having a 'Big Boys Breakfast'. The event starts at 8.30am and finishes at 9.30am. We have placed invitations in your child's locker, please RSVP by the 25th of August. The children look forward to spending this special morning with you all! There is also a survey in your child's locker. Please return these asap so we can display them in the classroom.

Please Note- Recently there has been lots of toys from home being brought into the classroom. Can we please request that you try and keep loved items at home to avoid upset children and lost valuable or toys. Thank you for understanding.
