Mead

Dear Mead Room families and friends,

Week 5… hmm, where to begin?!?

It has been jam packed, bursting with possibilities, full of investigation, and brimming with exploration.

Our Recycling inquiry took an unexpected turn – we are making our own paper with our recycled paper collection.
Jonas – “We cut it into tiny, tiny pieces.”
Danica – “The paper is getting mushy, mushy like a banana.”
Jaden – “The water is opaque.”
Haris – “It looks like a colourful beach.”

One of our daffodil bulbs finally burst open – the children are thrilled that the final stage in the life cycle of the daffodil has occurred at long last.
Patrick – “A trumpet of gold!”

Book Week experiences occurred on most days this week!
Mr Coleman, from the Prep School library, came to the Mead Room on Tuesday and read us a new book.  ‘Piranhas Don’t’ Eat Bananas’, is written and illustrated by Aaron Blabey, it was one of the books shortlisted in the Early Childhood category for The Children’s Book Council of Australia. We thoroughly enjoyed his dramatic rendition!

The ‘ELC Players’, a not for profit teaching cohort of questionable acting ability, performed their rendition of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff” on Wednesday.

Thursday saw us take a leisurely stroll in the sunshine up to the Front Oval.  Here the Prep School and the ELC came together for a Reading Flash Mob – such a wonderful experience for the children to see so many children either reading or being read to.  We love reading in all sorts of places but we had not yet read on the oval…. I think it may be the start of something…

And on Friday we had our very own ELC Book Week Parade. There were so many wonderful costumes. We even got to boogie with our mums and dads!

Enjoy your weekend!
