Book Week Dates for your Diary

Dear ELC Families

Students across Australia will be participating in Book Week activities to celebrate the annual Children’s Book Council of Australia awards between the 22nd and 26th of August.

·     On Tuesday 23rd August  we are looking forward to some guest readings by staff from the wider college, keen to share their favourite childhood books.

·  On Wednesday 24th August the Town Square Thespians will perform the traditional favourite  “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”

·    On Thursday 25th August we will join the Preparatory classes for a reading flash mob on the top oval

·    On Friday 26th August we will hold our ELC Book Week dress up parade at 9.30 in the Town SquareChildren who do not normally attend on Fridays are welcome to join us for the parade with an accompanying adult and parents are enthusiastically invited to come and see us parade.  Please help your child choose a book character to dress up as.

We understand that it can be difficult to dissuade your child from movie characters and superheros but we would ask that you please avoid these dress ups for our book character parade. We recognise that movie stars and superheros are an important part of our children’s popular culture and so, on Wednesday 7th September, we will be holding a special Superhero and Movie Character dress up day.

If you are having trouble convincing your child that Elsa was a movie character before she became a colouring book you may like to encourage your child to save that dress up for our Superhero and Movie Character dress up day instead!

Happy Reading

ELC staff
