Mattingley

Dear Mattingley Families and Friends,

We have had a great week this week with one of the highlights being our Dancify performance on Thursday. The children were really excited to show off the dance moves they had been learning during their Dancify lessons. Dancify was a great way for the children to highlight their abilities to follow instructions, have a go and persist at new tasks as well as supporting their gross motor development.

We have also been talking about Sports Day in the lead up to next week’s event. We asked the children what they thought Sports Day was.

Riani – A running race

Anthony- To look at each other

Didier – We have a ball and we kick it

Sarina – At sports day we have a race

Mack – Running and balls and jumping

We will continue to explore what Sports Day involves as well as the concepts of teamwork, encouraging each other, health and having a go. We are really looking forward to Sports Day next Thursday and hope to see the children dressed up in their team colours. Please remember to check what team your child has been allocated to. This information is posted on our classroom door.

Over the last few weeks we have noticed many children practicing meaningful mark making. This has occurred as children have been making shopping lists and taking orders in our home corner. Additionally, many of the children have loved using the chalk outside to practice writing their names. As we observe this we are asking the children to think about what the purpose of letters, number and writing is. It is fantastic to see the children’s literacy skills continually evolve.

Have a great weekend,

Cass and Liana
