Chapple

A really busy week in the Chapple Room.

The demolition of the buildings across the road has resulted in great interest in construction and destruction! We had our own construction challenge using spaghetti and Blu-Tac. The children showed amazing resilience to try and build their structures. We discussed the properties of spaghetti and thought about why it was not great to build with.

We continued to work on sound recognition with this week’s focus N.

We were treated to a performance of Three Billy Goats Gruff by Seb, Jonas, Yifan and Flynn. They did a great job of acting out the story for the rest of the class.

Big Boys Breakfast was a great success with the sounds of hammering and tie making ringing out. We finished off with our Great Egg Drop Challenge which tested the engineering skills on the Big Boys.

Erin from Dancify came in to teach the children some new dances. A great time was had by all.

We also read the book “I Wonder” which encourages children to ask questions about their world. Flynn later saw a pattern of circles, diamonds and squares on the floor and asked “I wonder why they are there?” He worked out it was the disco ball creating the patterns.

Show and Tell this week is the sound c for cat (We are looking at the sounds, so “c" for king is also an option- s for circle is taught separately)

As part of our work into “Who We Are” and identity, please could you send in a photo of your family. We will be looking at how all families are the same and different.

We are collecting small boxes etc again for our making table again if you have any at home to bring in.

Regards
Martin, Louise, Elodie and Satin
