Dear Wilkins Families,
What a wonderful and busy week we have had in the
Wilkins room!
In the classroom this week we have been exploring
different kinds of dress ups. The children have enjoyed being different kinds
of animals and having funny coloured wigs on. We have seen some very funny
outfits. Children can explore aspects of identity through role play within the
classroom.
During our morning meeting, we have introduced a
‘Feelings Board'. This includes different photos of different emotions. We have
been discussing when we are feeling sad and what our faces look like. This is
helping our Wilkins children to understand, regulate and express different
emotions throughout their day.
Thursday was a very muddy, muddy day. What fun the
children had together. Each child explored the muddy puddle in their own
unique ways. Some were pouring and tipping, there was splashing and jumping and
also digging and scooping. This is such a great experinece for cause and effect
and mathematical exploration of positioning. Some children were learning more
about opposites like being wet or dry or rough or smooth. To follow on from
this muddy play we read a book called "I'm a Dirty Dinosaur!". What
fun this was!
