Mead

Dear Mead families and friends,

It has been another busy week for our Mead Room children. We welcome a new friends Angus (Gus) into our community and it has been great to see how welcoming our little people have been.

Our cutting station has been flocked by children who are working to master the skill, trying out different strategies using various materials. This will be an ongoing experience for our little fingers with further extensions ahead.

The block corner has seen many children testing out ideas of stacking, ordering and sorting of loose parts and constructing freely or guided by visual inspirations. We see some very keen budding architects and engineers already.

This week we sent all our three monarch butterflies out into the big world which excited the children. We looked into their features, read non-fiction books and talked about what they need in the wild and wished them the best.

Look!, It’s balancing on the flower, Dylan said.
Now, it needs food, added Billy.
And find pollen, quipped Liam.

We have continued on inspiring the children to be nature’s treasure hunters. They are always seen walking around the garden on a mission to gather gum nuts, sticks, leaves, feathers and other interesting items. We even ventured into the big school after our PE session to collect autumn leaves, much to the children’s delight. Our nature collection has grown and we welcome you to add what you gather from your own nature adventure walks. We will look into our growing collections, identify their colours, designs and patterns in the weeks ahead.

Many of our children have taken on different challenges this week. This includes jumping over obstacles, throwing hoops, working on puzzles and developing scissors skills. Its pleasing to see our Mead children growing to be more and more confident in their abilities and seeking ways to build competence. Let us know some of the challenges that your child is working on at home. We would love to hear about it and be part of that journey.

Have a great weekend
