Our constructions in the
Cooper room have become larger and more elaborate this week. Through these
construction experiences the children are developing their skills from
observing and communicating with their peers as well as through trial and
error.
Many children have explored balance and developed their hand eye
coordination as they stack blocks on top of each other to create purposeful
structures. Over the week, we have seen children building enclosed structures
and using these in their imaginative play with the support of animal props.
What a groovy concert we
had on Thursday! Thank you to the parents and grandparents that made it to the Dancify performance. We have been practicing very hard each week and we had a blast
showing off our new dance moves to our family and friends. Through our Dancify
sessions the children were developing their coordination, creativity, gross
motor skills and balance.
On Tuesday we found a
chicken egg in our yard. After much discussion, many of the children were
convinced that there would be a chicken inside. We cracked the egg and out
came… egg white and yolk. We then spoke about eating these types of eggs and
how we use them in our kitchen. We will be using eggs next week in some cooking
sessions.
Following on from our egg
conversation, we then went on to discuss other animals that hatch from eggs. We
knew that chickens and our tadpoles came from eggs, but what else?
