Dear Families and
friends,
We have enjoyed some different experiences
this week. One of our highlights has been welcoming the Year 6 boys down to
share stories with us on Tuesday afternoons. This will be a regular part of our
program as the children see reading being modelled with expression and
interest. The benefits for our children are numerous, engaging in texts,
viewing what readers do, getting to know older boys and building relationships
with them over time. The older boys gain a lot from this too, especially those
not used to mixing with young children. It can be a wonderful way for them to
develop empathy, compassion and a genuine understanding of how to help others.
The children have
really enjoyed another turn to share their treasure boxes. Some of the boxes
could do with a few more items added please! It has been great for the children
to share more of their interests and passions.
We have explored an
amazing process of painting a huge 'colourful cup' canvas with Ms Kerry. The
children have witnessed and been involved in the entire process. They will be
reflecting on this as we finish up the week. Printing has been another art form
we are exploring in our room, looking at different ways of making copies and
creating butterfly prints.
Our overall theme has
been working together and it has been a joy to witness many authentic
interactions, where the children have shared and helped each other with their
learning!
We have formalised our Class Agreement this week, looking at the best
ways we can work together as a class. We shall be displaying these for us to
remember as we continue our learning.
Wishing you a
wonderful long weekend.
Kind regards,
Pip and Liana
