Dear Mattingley Room families and
friends,
This week in the Mattingley Room we are
continuing with our Feelings/Emotions inquiry. We have been utilising the
strategies we have practiced in role play by naming our emotions and the
emotions we observe in others. By acknowledging that all feelings are valid it
has promoted a beautiful burgeoning of empathy and compassion.
We are also exploring the concepts of safe
and unsafe - Making sure we pay attention to signs in our environment that may
be alerting us to danger, road safety;
staying together, listening to information/instructions so that we can stay
safe. Wearing appropriate safety attire when riding a bike. We are
incorporating ‘Red Light/ Green Light’ into our forays up the hill to the big
school, but also in and around our ELC, it is a game that requires listening
and being alert!
Speaking of being safe……. In the
Workshop we have some dress-ups, and the children have been interested in the
uniforms we have available, some of our Mattingley friends have been drawn to
the Police Officer uniforms.
What do Police Officers do?
Ava – They work. They need to actually, it
is something that they like to do.
Annabelle – They go in a police car. Someone's in
trouble! They do helping and then they go home.
Charlotte – Nee Naw Nee Naw.
Isla – That’s the sound from the top of the
truck.
Charlotte – The car.
Isla – They help people.
Charlotte – Yeah, they help people a lot.
Aeson – They help somebodys.
Eann – They get peoples.
Amelia – They fix peoples.
We will follow this line of inquiry and
see where it takes us!
Have a wonderful weekend,
From Melissa and Georgia
