Mead

Dear Families,

Our colour mixing experiments have continued this week with a focus on how to make purple. We provided children with blue and red play dough and asked them what would happen when we mixed them together. There were lots of interesting predictions made before the children mixed and rolled and squashed the colours together to see what would actually happen. They soon discovered that red and blue make purple and then began to experiment with making lighter and darker shades of purple. We also shared a You Tube song about colour mixing with the class, talking about all the different colours we can make.

On our way back from the library this week, we were looking at all the cars and Ashlyn wisely told us, “you don’t get in to a car you don’t know”. This sparked a discussion about all the different ways that we can keep our bodies safe.

Here are some of the children’s reflection so far -

We need to go on the footpath - Chiara
My Mummy says stop at the road - Angus
Cars have seat belts. You need to keep it - Riley
You might go through the window - Hugo
With Mummy and Daddy in the pool - Sophie
Only boogie needs to go up your nose - Billy
Don’t put sticks in your mouth - Will
We don’t go near fire by yourself, you might get burned like a marshmallow - Liam

What wise, sensible children we have in the Mead room. Related to our Keeping Safe Curriculum, we will continue to explore the ways we can keep ourselves safe over the coming weeks.

We have also been treasure hunting in the garden this week, observing the rapid growth of our new caterpillars, predicting what is going to happen to them next, exploring feelings and what they look and feel like, labelling and grouping numbers and exploring measurement, tipping and pouring in our sensory bin.

Best wishes for the weekend,

Coney and Jess
