Friday saw the class investigate how they keep healthy and
one of the ways suggested was by moving. The children worked out to Go Noodle
to get their bodies fit.
Our numeracy focus this week was moving into those tricky
double digits. We created our own number line to 11 and raced in pairs to order
the number discs.
Undoubtedly this week has been dominated by Wombat Stew!
Houyi got us started by sieving the sand pit for bark chips, twigs and
diamonds. Sadly, diamonds proved hard to find, unlike bark chips! We read the book “Wombat Stew” by Marcia Vaughan. The
children creatively role-played the making of the stew and when we had finished
we discussed why we would not like to drink this water.
We used Houyi’s
sieve to clean the water. It was better, but still not clean enough to drink.
We then built our own filter with coffee paper filters, sand and pebbles. This
was very successful and the water was a lot cleaner.
We watched a cartoon on some of the people who are not
lucky enough to have clean water. The children felt very sad for the children
in the world who must walk for 3 hours carrying dirty drinking water for their
families.
Teddy: 3 hours that’s a lot. I might be sick if I drink it.
Aaron: That would be so heavy.
Will H: I would feel sad.
As
the weather is still warm at times, could you please ensure the children have
names spare clothes in their bags. We are running low on ELC spares.
