Dear Edgerley Parents,
This week we continued to think about the connections
between us and illustrate friends from our classroom. Look at the wall above
the lockers to see our growing gallery. We continued to explore the idea of
feelings, grouping them into ones that are good and bad. But after further
reflection Isaac C suggested that perhaps there were some that could go in the
middle, they were neither good nor bad, such as feeling tired or bored.
They are just normal feelings - he said.
Good thinking Isaac C! As part of our Keeping Children
Safe curriculum we began to discuss why our bodies think some feelings are good
whilst others are bad.
Why does our brain give us a message that some feelings
are bad? - wondered Mrs Bishop
So that we know stuff and know to run away - suggested Seb A
So your brain gets you to learn about it - suggested Isaac S
A
bad feeling, then I need to change something - said Jay
We also discovered that
different people can feel different feelings about the same thing. After Mrs
Bishop described feeling scared of spiders and wanting to squash them Karl
explained that seeing a spider makes him feel brave and that he wants to help
the spider because they are helpful creatures.
Friday children also enjoyed a performance by OPEN! Puppet Theatre. This performance also encouraged lots of discussion about
emotions and facing your fears. If any other families are interested in seeing
this beautiful, gentle and thought provoking show they have one remaining show
that is not fully booked on Sunday at 12.30pm at the Holden Street Theatre.
Thankyou to Miss Olly in Langley for organising it for us.
Have a lovely weekend
Mel, Emma and Chris
