Langley

Dear Langley friends and families,

Last Friday many of the Langley friends enjoyed a puppet show performance entitled ‘Open!’ as a part of the Fringe Festival. This show explored emotions and used beautiful handmade puppets to tell the story of a little girl being curious and facing her fears and the emotions that accompany new experiences. The Langley and Wilkins children were very vocal in their enjoyment and could be seen reaching out and staring in wonder at the various elements of the show which included well crafted sound and light elements interwoven with the story.
Our indoor learning has included a number exploration table which has seen many children beginning to recognise and attempting to read and sequence numbers in various ways. We are using songs based around number to consolidate this learning.

We have also been enjoying further exploration of nature this week with a sensory experience of pine needles and pine cones, observational palm leaf paintings, playdough with leaves and animal shapes and discussions about the various types of leaves we have collected.

When you are next walking through the Workshop area look up to see the water bottle mobile many children from the Langley room contributed in making. This was a real test in handling tools and overcoming any inhibitions about getting gooey hands.

It has been wonderful too to see the children widely exploring the outdoor area with its variety of equipment serving to challenge children physically and offering many opportunities for dramatic role play. We are also seeing friendships blossom and the skills necessary to develop these like sharing and empathy.

We have also begun preparing for Grandies day as we rehearse alongside our friends from the Wilkins room a couple of our favourite songs and one new one that Grandparents may well remember too. We look forward to sharing this event with Grandparents. Should your child be unable to have a grandparent attend please feel welcome to invite another adult who is significant in their life and let the class teacher know so we can greet them on the day.

We hope you have a great weekend,

Ms Olly, Miss Nicole, Miss Chelsea and Miss Georgia
