Dear Langley families
and friends,
We have had a
wonderful week of play and discoveries this week. The children have enjoyed
opportunities for play in our Workshop area trying out various tools and
setting about ‘fixing’ items in our classroom. Lots of banging and other tool
related noises can be heard as the children put on their hard hats and take on
‘worker’ roles.
Many have enjoyed
other role play opportunities in our outdoor area hospital. Costumes and
instruments have been widely used as the children took to caring for one
another and our dolls. It is great to hear new the new language that this type
of dramatic play brings about.
Miss Georgia’s ‘The
Very Brave Bear’ story table has seen lots of children retelling this popular
story using picture cars and their own interpretations of the text.
The arrival of our
special visitor ‘Tiny’ the lizard has also generated lots of discussion and
several children have been keen to gently stroke his scaly skin. We look
forward to sharing further learning about Tiny throughout his stay.
We continue to work on
settling in routines and developing a sense of identity and belonging in the
Langley room. During morning meetings we use photos and name cards so that
children become familiar with their peers names. We also sing songs and read
familiar texts. This type of repetition helps to establish feelings of security
for the children and develops their confidence in joining in. It is lovely to
see the relationships and trust developing not just between the children and
their educators but between the children as they seek out play mates.
Enjoy your weekend
Miss Olly, Miss Nicole, Miss Georgia and Miss Chelsea.
