Langley

Dear Langley friends and families,

This week we have continued to enjoy the company of ‘Tiny’ our class Lizard. We have talked about what his usual environment would be, his food requirements and the types of conditions he needs to survive. The children have been learning to keep a safe and respectful distance and have noticed that when we venture too close or become too loud Tiny will stick out his blue tongue. We say goodbye to Tiny today but continue to care for our stick insect friend who grows bigger each day as we provide him with fresh gum leaves.

The Langley children are beginning to see the seeds they planted last week, both broad beans and snow peas, grow as we continue to spray them and place them in adequate sunshine. It is wonderful seeing the children begin to regulate their behaviour as they carefully handle the plants and enjoy sharing the equipment and experience with their peers. We have also been enjoying using nature and the colours of a new season to produce paintings with pine needle paint brushes. Be sure to look out for all the changing colours in our natural environment with your child now Autumn is with us.

There has been a lot of interest in our counting songs that we share during morning meetings with more and more children joining in with singing actions and movement as they gain confidence.

Please remember to label your child’s clothing and return any items that may have mistakenly been sent home with your child or those that they have been changed into belonging to the ELC.

If you have items you think we may be able to recycle for use in creative activities in the class we would appreciate them being sent in. Items like magazines, greeting cards, scrap fabric, bottle lids, tickets, stamps, paper with letter heads, envelopes, packing foam, small cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, natural materials like seeds and pods, unwanted craft items, wool etc. If you are unsure if we can use it please just ask any of your educators.

Diary Reminders:

A note went home this week both in your child’s bag and on Seesaw for Grandies day on Wednesday April 4th. Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding this event.

Enjoy your long weekend!
