Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

We have had a very busy week in the Cooper room this week. We started off our week getting down and dirty in the garden. Following on from the children’s keen interest last week with the ginormous broad beans plants that have sprouted in our garden, we decided to pick some beans and use the seeds inside to replant in our classroom. The children decided that we needed the following things to best support our plants to thrive in our classroom.

Poppy- We put the seed in the dirt and then they grow.
Lucy – We need some water.

We have been eagerly observing our seeds each day to see if the seeds have started to sprout. We have had no such luck yet, but we are hopeful that we will see changes in the next week.

The children have absolutely loved observing our new class pets, our silkworms, over the week. It when they watch the silkworms, that they are using their senses to gather and form new knowledge about the lifecycle of these very interesting creepy crawlies.

Nash – They are called silkworms
Archie – Silkworms
Nash – One is eating a leaf
Archie – If they go out of our classroom then we will put them back in
Lucy – They eat the leaves
Poppy – We got the leaves from outside
Eddie S – They have a sleep sometimes
Lucy – They do poos
Oliver C – They eat all leaves
Toby – They slither.
George – They get bigger and bigger
Lucy – They are different sizes. Not the same
Angus – I picked up a big one
Nash – One is having a piggy back
Ollie F – Look at the tiny one just there
Angus – Look at the big one
Nash – We need to be gentle
Ollie F – They are very slow
Nash – They have a little home in there

The Cooper room have taken fantastic care over the last week to collect leaves from our Mulberry tree for the silkworms to eat and clean their enclosure so that they have a nice place to live. We are very proud of the way that they are looking after our pets.

We hope that you have a fantastic weekend.

Love Miss Gilbert and Miss C
