Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

In the first week of our winter holiday program, the children have had fun exploring their interests and being creative in the classroom.

As winter is now approaching, the children have been talking about the weather and how it has been very cold and raining. This week we decided to do a science experiment. We filled two jars up with water three quarters of the way to the top and placed shaving cream on top of the water. The children used their fine motor skills to pick up some blue, diluted food colouring using the pipettes. They then squeezed the blue water out of the pipettes onto the top of the shaving cream. The children were so fascinated as they watched the food colouring fall and create different patterns into the water.

Jaiyen - Blue water
Kaeshav - It rains so heavily
Hudson - It rains in New York
Mack - The rain is coming Alannah
Clementine - It's going down
Zak - I can see rain

The children have also enjoyed painting pictures using the art easels, being creative at the art table, building with the large wooden blocks in the town square, dressing up in costumes role playing, climbing on the outdoor equipment and building with the coloured magnets.

We look forward to seeing you next week, enjoy your weekend.
