Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families,

We joined the rest of the ELC classes this week to celebrate Harmony Day. In the lead up to this celebration, we shared the book Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes and talked about how all people have physical similarities, and differences. We then used our hands to create a group mural with our Langley friends and shared this during our centre gathering. Be sure to keep your eyes out for our mural display very soon.

To support the children's development of their fine motor skills, we have been doing some threading this week. We have had to concentrate really carefully to thread the small pieces on to the pipe cleaners and have excitedly shared our achievements with others. Many of you would have discovered threaded jewels coming home in school bags and on arms! We will continue to extend and explore our fine motor control in the coming weeks.

The sensory table has continued to be a great interest point with the children using their sense of smell to discover the different herbs. We have be picking herbs from the garden and smashing them up in the mortar and pestle - we particularly like the chocolate mint! if you have any herbs or other interesting smelly objects at home, we'd live for you to bring them in to add to our table.

This week has also seen us role play in the home corner, use mathematical concepts to create patterns, monitor the changes in our caterpillars, help care for our geckos, fish and spiny leaf insects, plant some new plants and seeds in the garden, develop our gross motor skills as we throw, kick and catch balls, share a range of different books, dance and sing and move and groove and explored shapes......Phew, what a jam packed week! We look forward to seeing what next week has in store for us!

We need a couple of parent volunteers to help us with the book stall and cafe for Grandies Day on Tuesday 4th April. If you are able to help, please come and see us.

We will be holding parent teacher interviews on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th April. If you would like to make a time to have a chat, please email us on jcatt@staff.pac.edu.au and we will book you in.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,

The Wilkins Team
