Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

On Wednesday, we came together as a whole ELC to celebrate Harmony Day and share our ideas on what Harmony means to us. Over the past 2 weeks we have been talking about Harmony and creating our whole class stone collage. All of the 3 year old cohort have been talking about similar ideas about how we are all the same on the inside but on the outside we are all different and unique – just like the stones that we have been painting.

Over the last term the children have taken a particular interest in developing their emerging literacy skills. The children have been using the writing table to practice forming the letters of their name with pencil and have traced letters in the sand on the light table. This week we set out the white boards with a range of letters in a large basket. The children have been using their locker tags to scaffold their learning in assisting them to find the correct letters in their name. Over the week, the children’s confidence in identifying the letters increased and they began to idenitify letters outside of their own names. Through this experience the children have demonstrated their emerging interest and knowledge of literacy concepts and that she understands that text convey meaning.

Just a reminder that Grandies Day is on Tuesday the 4th of April at the ELC. We have placed 2 invitations in each child’s bag which outlines details of the day.

Happy Birthday to Xavier C who turned 4 on Wednesday!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Love Miss Gilbert and Mr Richards
