Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families,

Phew, what a hot week we have had - we hope you have all survived! To beat the heat, we have been venturing outside early in the morning and have engaged in water play to cool down. We have been exploring and stomping in muddy puddles in the sandpit, running under the hose and using different animals and pouring cups in the water trough.

Inspired by the children’s ideas, we have continued our exploration of cause and effect and motion using marble painting. The children have been examining how the marble moves around the box depending on which way they tilt it. This is a bit tricky when you are trying to watch the marble too!

On Tuesday we marked the beginning of Lent by making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. We read the recipe, chose our ingredients and all got to have a turn to mixing the batter. Miss Georgia cooked our pancakes on the barbecue and then we got to enjoy eating them with our fruit for morning tea.

We have also been exploring music and movement with Miss Erin on Tuesdays though our Dancify program and extended this to other days by listening to different types of music and engaging in group games and songs. A big hit has been the Sleeping Bunnies song - look it up on YouTube and play it for your child, I’m sure they would love to show you their groovy moves!

We look forward to seeing you all next week and than you for your patience with the crazy traffic around school this week.

Best wishes,

Courtenay, Melissa, Ellen, Lucy and Jess
