Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families and friends,

We have welcomed two new friends in to our classroom this week - Dory, the Siamese Fighting Fish and two Monarch Butterfly caterpillars! Our children have been keen nature lovers recently, helping to care for our gecko, our spiny leaf insects and our centre chickens so have keenly welcomed our new creatures. “Fish” Yichen told Angus Z, “fishey, fishey” responded Angus excitedly. We have been watching the caterpillars chomping away at their leaves, they have grown so much already. We can’t wait to see what will happen to them when they get really big! Be sure to check out our growing menagerie of creatures in our classroom, I'm sure your child would be happy to show you.

We have been extending our fine motor control using pipe cleaners and plastic colanders. The children have had to really focus in order to be able to manipulate the pipe cleaners in to the little holes.

Our interest in dance and movement has continued - the Tuesday children have been practicing their dance moves with Miss Erin during our Dancify lessons. We have extended this further in the classroom, participating in group action songs such as Sleeping Bunnies and The Wiggles have been a huge hit this week also. Next week, we will add some instruments to this play so the children can explore making their own music.

Best wishes for the long weekend,

Miss Jess, Miss Ellen, Miss Courtenay, Miss Melissa and Miss Lucy
