Dear Mead Room families and friends,
This week we have been exploring the
idea of taking care of our body.
With our Sunsmart policy in full swing
since the 1st September we asked the children;
“Why do we put sunscreen on our skin?”
Quinn and Millie – so we don’t get
sunburnt!
Jimmy – what is sunburnt?
Charlotte – your skin will turn red.
Poppy – but then it will turn back.
Tom – sunburnt is hot.
Elsie – it hurts you.
We went further by discussing other
things we can do to make good choices for our body;
Teddy and Anwen – put your hat on.
Vivienne – when you go swimming in the
sea you have to wear sunscreen, and it won’t come off.
Max – I have a long sleeve one and a
short sleeve one (rashy for swimming in)
Charlotte – wear sun glasses for your
eyes.
Ginger – drink water.
Zahli – you should lay down and rest if
you are sick.
Ronnie – I have purple things that you
eat every single day (vitamins), germs eat the vitamins.
Vivienne – no, the vitamins make the
germs go away.
Tom – you can go to the doctor.
Christian V – You can have Panadol and
it makes me better.
We went on to discuss Healthy foods and
Sometimes foods, at times its tricky to discern the difference! We will
continue to investigate good choices for our bodies!
Even before Book Week the Mead Room friends
have enjoyed lively re-tellings of traditional fairy tales such as The
Gingerbread Man and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
This week groups of children retold the
story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, organising their bridge, water, and negotiating
roles for the characters needed for the story. It can be time consuming to
discuss these elements however the children co-operated, collaborated, changed
roles and shared their story with an audience!
Please note – the date and day of the
Dancify Parent Performance has changed.
It is now scheduled for Thursday 21st
September – 3 year old performance @ 11am – 11.30am, Town Square.
Take care of each other,
Melissa and Georgia
