Wilkins

Dear Wilkins Families,

It has been a wonderful week in the Wilkins room.  We have been busy finding out more about ourselves and more about our identity.

Sybilla: I have eyes and hair all over
Aria: My mouth and my teeth
Angus: Two eyes
Jack B: Ears are here
Henry: Hair, hair, hair
Sid: Noooose
Ezra: My hair, my nose and my eyes are here

The children have begun to identify their facial body parts through our morning meeting opportunities like song, dance and stories.  We have been following this up with a simple art experience involving highlighters and tracing.  These self-portraits are on display above the lockers.

We have also discovered how much we ALL love the story “Going On A Bear Hunt”. We have had a lot of fun experiences within the classroom involving the story from viewing, to books that make special noises, to dancing out the story, to even homemade sensory bags.  It is a great story to read to help learn rhythm and rhyme, which is an important step towards gaining reading skills.

It has been lovely to see so many parents noticing the display boards with their child.  It is a brilliant way to connect all learning by revisiting previous experiences or thoughts.  Take your child up to a board today to help them discover what is on it.

Just a friendly reminder: if you have not signed up to Seesaw please do as soon as possible or inquire more about it to any educators.

You may have noticed a new teacher face in our room. Her name is Valentina. She is a university student from Enable College doing her practical placement in our classroom from Wednesday (20/2) through to Tuesday (27/2). Please say hello to her as you see her to make her feel welcome.  She is training in her Diploma of Early Childhood Education. She has previously worked in a Montessori classroom in India and is now residing in Adelaide.

Adelaide 500 road works have started this week please be mindful that there are road restrictions in place around the college.
