Mead

Dear Mead families,

What a busy week of celebrations we have had in the Mead room this week! On Tuesday, we marked the beginning of Lent and our lead up to Easter by sharing a brief history of Shrove Tuesday, having the Chapple children perform a song for us and then by making and eating delicious pancakes.

To celebrate Valentines Day, we had a class discussion posing the question ‘What is Love?’ The children had some wonderful ideas about love which we will continue to expand on in the future through our continued discussions about belonging and our feelings.

I think people love people. We love cos it’s very nice - Hugo
I cuddle Mummy and Daddy - Ashlyn
Love feels good - Blake
I love Evan’s baby - Evan
Feel like something in my heart - Alex

Our Chinese New Year celebrations have been in full swing this week as well. We have been discussing this celebration and its meaning, creating our own paintings and on Friday we shared in a centre wide performance and Lion Dance.

Inspired by Sammy’s colour mixing at the easel last week, we have been mixing different coloured play dough to see what new colours we can create. Through this, the children have been discussing concepts of lighter and darker and what these words mean. We will continue this exploration next week by mixing different paints together.

We had some movers and groovers in our classroom on Thursday as we started our 5 week program of Dancify lessons. The children enjoyed watching and learning the moves to our 'Walking on Sunshine’ dance and we look forward to sharing this with our Thursday families in the coming weeks.

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend,

Coney and Jess
