Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families and friends,

We have had a brilliant week full of new and exciting things.  We began the week with Shrove Tuesday where we got to make pancakes as a class and eat them.  This was a chance for many children to learn the skill of waiting and turn taking.

This was quickly followed by the start of Dancify on Thursday.  Dancify is a program that runs for two terms where children are welcome to participate in a simple dance program. It was great to see so many children participated in moving their bodies to the music and following the instructor.

On Friday, we celebrated Chinese New Year. As part of our belonging focus we looked at what occurs during these celebrations.  We discovered things like red is the lucky colour.  Hanging red banners with words brings good luck.

In the Wilkins class, we have been painting our own banners with Miss Melissa and they are now hanging up.  See if you can find them.  We read that people watch Lion Dances.  We were lucky enough to see the Lion Dance presented by the PAC International students to mark the celebration here at the ELC.

We hope you enjoy your weekend,

Kathy, Ellen, Courtenay and Melissa
