Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

What a hot week we have had this week. To try and stay cool we have been engaging in a range of water play experiences in the outside yard. It has been wonderful to observe the children’s relationships becoming stronger with their peers in the Cooper room as they comfortably communicate, negotiate and co- construct during their play.

This was our first week of Show and Tell in the Cooper room. I have been blown away by the Show and Tells this week. All of the children who presented theirs, spoke confidently and clearly to their peers, ordered their speech and answered the questions that the children had about their holiday. Well done to everyone who shared this week and I am looking forward to hearing about more special holidays next week.

During our Chinese session on Monday with Miss Wenting we started to look at Chinese New Year, which is coming up next week. Miss Wenting showed the children red envelopes, red fans and traditional Chinese outfits which are worn during these special celebrations. We also found out that this year will be the Year of the Dog. To follow on from our Chinese session on Monday we shared stories about the Chinese New Year and started to make paper lanterns which we will display in our classroom.

We have almost finished our self-portraits in the classroom. We used a thin black texta to draw the outline of our bodies and then painted over the picture using watercolours. It has been good to see the children’s self-portraits develop each term.

To help regulate our emotions and support others to feel safe and happy in our classroom, we have been looking at feelings during group time this week. We spoke about what different emotions looked like and what makes you feel happy/sad/worried/excited etc. We then explored strategies to support your peers when they are feeling sad or worried. It was wonderful listening to the kind and caring answers from the children. We will be making our own feelings cards and displaying them in the classroom next week.

Please make sure that you have signed onto Seesaw.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
