Wilkins

Dear families and friends,

It’s been a movin’ and groovin’ kind of week in the Wilkins room. The children have shown a keen interest in music, dance and movement over the last couple of weeks so we have introduced some dancing ribbons for the children to explore and inspire their dancing. We have been developing our listening skills using action songs and rhymes. Some of our favourites are The Echo Song, Mr Clickety Cane and Drive Around Australia - you might like to explore some of these songs at home with your children - I’m sure they’d love to show you their moves.

Inspired by Sammy and Ariana’s rainbow paintings, we have been taking a closer look at what rainbows are this week. Using pictures we talked about what we already know about rainbows as we created our own images using black paper and colour chalk. We discovered we already know so much about rainbows and how they are created!

Rainbow come out - Lachlan
In da sky - Liam
Where do we see rainbows? - Miss Jess
In dark skies - Tarika
When it’s raining - Riley
When the sun comes out and rainbow comes - Tarika
Rain makes rainbows - Ashlyn
It’s raining - Armando
Rainbow because rain outside - Alex

We will be keenly watching the skies for rainbows over the coming weeks. Please snap a photo if you happen to see one and send it through to us to share. To explore this further, we will be creating our own rainbow with the Cooper room children. If you have any rainbow coloured objects at home (bottle tops, scraps of fabric, feathers), please bring them in and add them to our sorting basket near the sign in sheets.

We are deep in the midst of our Big Boys Breakfast preparations also, make sure you have taken your invite from your locker and please return the RSVP to the box at the front office as soon as possible. We look forward to sharing this morning with all our Big Boys.

Miss Melissa will be on leave for the next 5 weeks (we are very jealous of her European vacation!). Miss Chelsea and Miss Sharon will be in the classroom with us to cover Melissa.

Best wishes for the weekend.

Ellen, Courtenay, Melissa and Jess
