Langley

Dear Langley Friends and Family,

We are well and truly into our third term.  Everyone has been enjoying the changes to our room and taking the opportunity to play outside when the weather is nice.

This week we have focused our morning meeting story on the book by Pamela Allen, ‘Who Sank The Boat’.  The Langley children have enjoyed investigating into floating and sinking due to the story.  You may like to extend upon this at home during bath time. Chatting about cause and effect or trial and error of objects that may float or sink.  We have started to introduce a boat that might carry things that do sink.

If you have a spare moment during drop off or pick up head over the overhead projector and try out some shadow puppets with your child.  We are using it has another story telling medium leading into book week.

Book Week is fast approaching us in week 5, 21st – 25th August.  Note that on Thursday the 24th is our dress up day.  All children are welcome to dress up as any book character on this day. If your child would like to bring along their book (named) we would love to read as many books during dress up day as possible.

The Langley children have started to take an interest in our baby chickens that have hatched in the Mead three year old room.  Here some children have started to talk about themselves when they were babies.  To follow up on this interest we encourage as many families to bring in a baby photo, over this week, of your child for us to create a display for the children to explore.
