Mattingley

Dear Mattingley Families and Friends,

This week we have continued to observe and take care of our little chicks in our classroom. All the children have been very nurturing, making sure that they have enough food and water. From our observations we have noticed that as the chicks grow they become more confident and seem to be awake longer playing with each other. There has been lots of laughter and joy watching and taking care of the chicks, even when cleaning out their incubator.

One just ran around- Clem
All the eggs hatched- Sofia
One was standing in the cereal. He got out- Didier
They play together- Riani
They still yellow- Kaeshav
They still fluffy- Anthony
Everybody be quite! Baby came out of egg- Nathan
And soon they will go into big chicken- Phoenix
They walk around- Dylan
Chicken so little- Parker
They fly- Hugh

Unfortunately the time has come for them to go back to Living Eggs to start their life out on the farm. We have decided to keep two of our little ones as well as two from the Mead classroom to add to our brood of chickens in the Outdoor Learning Environment. Over the weeks we will work alongside the Mead classroom to take care of these little ones until they are ready to enter the big wide world on their own. Please let us know if you would be interested in fostering four little chicks over a weekend until they are big enough to go out into the yard. We look forward to watching them continue growing. Now we just need to think of names?

Also this week many of the children have been working on their meaningful mark making skills by taking a closer look at their names. Each child has a name sheet to support their letter formation and phonetic awareness. This is a skill that we will be working on for the rest of the term and into term 4. Please take the time to have a look at your child's writing on their sheet. They are all very proud of their work.

This week we have welcomed Miss Ruggiero into our classroom. For those of you who have not met her yet, she will be the classroom teacher when Mrs Mason goes on maternity leave next Friday (18/08/2017). It has been fantastic having Miss Ruggiero in the classroom, getting to know her and sharing a little about ourselves with her.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Kimberley, Cassandra and Liana
