Langley

Happy Easter every one.

What a great week it has been.  The children have slowly been learning about how we all celebrate Easter.  We started by reading the story ‘Easter Colours’ by Eric Carle.   Here we looked at the colours we can see in the book and compared them to the colours of Easter eggs in a sensory basket.  This began our journey into Easter crafts within the Langley Room.  The children have been mastering the act of gluing objects onto a 2D surface.  Stamping plastic eggs using paint and painting Easter baskets ready for our hunt.  Our week concludes with an amazing Easter Bonnet Parade in the Town Square along with a visit from someone special who delivered some hidden eggs around the centre.  What fun we all had!

On Monday morning, we found that one of our cocoons had turned into a beautiful butterfly.  The children who were here in the morning were able to set it free with the help of Miss Georgia.  It was a unique and special event in the Langley room, as we have been caring for the caterpillars for quite some time. Waiting in anticipation for a butterfly to arrive. And it did just in time for Easter!

At the end of this next school term we will be saying goodbye to some Langley children as the move into the three-year-old rooms.  It is a very exciting journey for these families as they see their little ones start to grow more and more independent.  It is important however to start to build all children with self-help skills ready for this transition.  Here are some that will help them with the move.
