Langley

In the Langley room this week we have been focusing on capturing moments in the block corner.  We will continue to help all children access this area more and more as the year goes on.  If you have a moment in your day read the six stages of block play on the display.  Here it explains the milestones children go through to gain skills in this area.  Why, block play someone may ask?  It has been shown that by allowing young children to manipulate structures they gain knowledge of, shapes, colours and size. They also gain skills such as cooperation, negotiation, creativity & problem solve just to name a few. So, let’s get building!

Monday afternoon saw us practice our Emergency Evacuation procedure across the whole centre, as we had a surprise fire alarm go off.  This meant I had to call the role to see who was here.  Again, we had holes in our sign in sheets and this meant legally a child was not in our care (but they were here but not signed in).  This causes a major problem for documentation.  So, I kindly remind all parents that it is a legal requirement to daily sign your child in and out.  Try to make it part of a routine at drop off or pick up.  Thank you.

Tuesday saw us celebrate Grandies Day. It was a lovely day and great way to meet extended family. Thank you to those parents who helped on the day, Michelle (Ethan’s mother) and Sophie (Charlotte’s mother). We do still have books for sale if you would like to purchase any books for our library and didn’t get a chance to do this on Grandies Day.  They are in the front foyer.  Feel free to take a look!

Over this Easter break could families try to collect any egg or chocolate foiled wrappers for an art and craft activity in the Langley room.  Any type of foiled wrappers will be fantastic. Get collecting!
