Cooper

Dear Cooper Families

We have continued our learning journey into colours this week by looking more closely at rainbows. To reignite the children’s interest we read the story Molly’s Rainbow by Meredith Costain, which explains how rainbows are formed and what colours make up a rainbow. We found out that the colour red is always at the top of a rainbow. Over the week we have been adding more objects to our class rainbow collage and it is starting to really take shape. Next week the colour that we are collecting is orange.

The children in the Cooper room have been increasingly interested in building and construction, in particular creating machines from the Mobilo in the classroom. To provoke the children’s ideas for constructing out of these connectable blocks, pictures were placed around the table of various types of vehicles. The children were able to look at these images and identify the blocks needed to recreate the image that they wanted. The children used their fine motor skills to click the pieces together and manipulate the blocks into to create the desired shape. The children have then been using these elaborate constructions to support and extend their socio dramatic play scenarios with their peers.

We hope that you are a lovely week.

Love Miss Gilbert and Mr Ty
