Mattingley

Dear Mattingley Families and Friends,

The wet weather has carried over the the second half of this week, which unfortunately put our excursion to the Botanic Gardens on hold, but never fear we still found plenty of ways to enjoy our time together at ELC, even in the rain.

Wednesday morning Erin from Dandify joined us for our third dancing lesson. She taught us a fun new dance called 'Five Kangaroos'. As you can see from the photos we had lots of fun learning this funky new dance.

I love the dancing- Daniel
We danced like kangaroos- Audrey
Dancing, dancing, fun- Fred

Our interest in Fire Engines and Fire Fighters has continued this week, taking a closer look at the equipment that is needed to fight fires.

A ladder. To get kitties and doggies out of trees. Oh, and to put out fires- Samuel
Firemen to fight the first and to drive the fire truck-  Chloe
It needs a ladder. And a hose. It's for putting out the fire. Fire people put out the fire- Marcel
It needs a siren on it- Lochlann S
A fire truck needs a horn- Fred
A fire hose- Josh S
it go nee naw, nee naw!- Jed

This week we learnt that Eloise's Mummy, Bek was in the Country Fire Service for 12 years and she has organised a fire truck to come and visit us in week 9. We are all very excited to see a real Fire Engine and are looking forward to squirting the hose. Thank you Bek for organising this for us.

Wednesday morning while in the outdoor learning environment the children were looking for ways to keep warm. Annalise suggested that they could build a campfire. With help from Mrs Rocca the children collected all the materials that they needed to build their campfire. There were lots of marshmallows cooked and discussion on how to keep safe around a campfire.

I cook sand on the fire. You rub sticks together then there is a fire- Annalise
I got chocolate marshmallows. I put a marshmallow on a stick then i put it on the fire. It cooks and then you eat it- Walter
I'm burning it- Paxton
I'm doing some marshmallows. I'm going to burn them. That's cooking them- Oscar
Well, I'm trying to set up a camp fire. Well, you need logs. Then I put them in. You light it with a special thing then you stand back. That's safe- Chloe

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Kimberley Mason & Coney Rocca
