Edgerley

Dear families,

Our investigations this week have predominantly revolved around celebrations and colour. With Christmas nearing, and nativity rehearsals taking place, we are busy learning songs and sharing how our families celebrate.

At the story table the children are enjoying retelling their version of the Christmas Story using props. Some children in our room who celebrate Diwali have shared with us what Diwali is, and how it is celebrated. The children watched some videos about Diwali to further their understandings and the children made comparisons to Christmas.  As Diwali is the 'Festival of Light' the children have painted some stunning fireworks paintings at the easels. Varish's mother, Anusha, kindly came in to further share about Diwali and the children enjoyed making patterns with s.

Diwali is the Festival of Light. We dance in the night and you dress up in something Indian - Varish
At Diwali they put food outside, just like we do at Christmas for the reindeers - David
They wear costumes just like us. We have Santa costumes - Oscar
They celebrate at Diwali and we celebrate at Christmas! - William
They decorate all the places (for Diwali) and we do for Christmas - Regan
Yes, we decorate with a Christmas tree with a star on top - Jessica
We have no fireworks (for Christmas), only at the Moon Lantern Festival. They have lots for Diwali - Oscar

With best wishes,
Emma, Emma and Ty
