Langley Room

Dear Langley family and friends,

The ankle bones connected to the leg bone, the leg bones connected to the hip bone…This week we have started to look at our bodies and talk about what’s inside them. This conversation was sparked by a picture on Miss Kerry’s cardigan. Miss Kerry drew an outline of a body on a piece of paper and the children were able to identify lots of the body parts and what we use them for.
Hair goes there, some spike hair – Angus RR
A belly button – Bernie
Belly – Elle
Knees – Brooke
Our feet go on the floor – Angelina
There leg – Tate
That’s a skeleton – Sylas
Da nose – Scarlett B
It’s your love (talking about the heart) – Bernie

To explore this further we have started tracing around our bodies and painting the bones on them. We will continue with this body exploration next week, examining x-rays, skeletons and body puzzles and collaging skeleton outlines of our bodies.

We have also enjoyed watching our silk worms take the next stage of their life cycle – spinning cocoons. Using crepe paper and toilet rolls, we have even been able to spin our own cocoons around our silk worms. We are eagerly anticipating what is going to come out of the cocoons, is it going to be a baby dinosaur or a butterfly or a frog?! We can’t wait to see what happens next week…

Don’t forget our Christmas Nativity performance next Thursday 21st November at 11am. We have been practising very hard and preparing our costumes and look forward to sharing this special morning with you.

Best wishes,

Jess, Kerry, Nicole and Emily
