Dear Langley Families and Friends,
This week we have continued to explore colour in many different ways. We have
read stories, worked on collaborative art pieces, played colour matching
games and used the transparent shapes at the light table. We have also been
encouraging the children to name the colours of different objects such as the
fruits and vegetables in our home corner. I wonder what colours they may
discover at home?
A
number of children have been interested in the weather and how it changes. To
extend on the children’s current interests we conducted a science experiment
about change. We used water and coloured dye to make new colours. The children
made predictions, hypothesis, and observations during morning meeting time.
Cara -‘It will change
James - It is black, the water is black
Rupert - It is green now
Lucy - It will change, the water will change
It
is a true pleasure to watch your children grow and change. They are very
curious beings, full off questions and hunting for answers.
When your child asks,
“Why is there a moon?”
Don’t reply with a
scientific answer.
Ask him, “What do you think?”
He will understand that you
are telling him,
“You have your own mind and your own
interpretation and your
ideas are
important to me”.
Then you and he can look
for the answers,
sharing the wonder,
curiosity,
pain - everything.
It is not the answers that are
important, it is the
process - that you
and he search together.

Have a safe and happy long
weekend.
