What
a busy week! World Environment Day kicked off the week and the Chapple children
did a great job of demonstrating their recycling game for the whole ELC.
Alex
demonstrated pull and push during his show and tell which was also blue as
well. The children also practised their push during their PE lesson.
Mark
making has continued to be popular.
As part of emerging literacy, the children
looked at the structure of a story. They were then shown the picture - The Great
Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. They were not told anything about the
image, they simply had to look at it and think about what they could see. The
children then had to decide on their own story based on the picture.
James - It is boat people sitting
down eating their food.
Isaac - They are cruising along,
not watching where they are going. They are feeling sad about the big wave
coming and crashing on them.
Leonardo - Their hair is going in
their eyes and they can’t see where they are going.
Paige - Their clothes are getting
wet and water splashing on the boat. The captain is not looking where they are
going.
Ben - They fall off the boat
from the big wave, they sink to the bottom. The crabs might get them.
Alana - The other boat comes to
help them and rescues them.
Jonas - Then another boat comes to
help them back to dry land.
Tom T - So they arrive to the dry
land and build sand castles.
Tom D - Then they put their toes
in the water, taking off their clothes to dry. They put the clothes on top of
the stairs. They are having fun.
Leo D - They decide to go back
home. They have to go in the boat, but can’t get wet.
Christian - Their car is waiting for
them.
Rayan - They have new clothes and
get back in the boat.
Connor - They get back home.
What an amazing story!
They followed this up doing their own artwork
and they even wanted to “do a really big one!” which looks great in the
classroom.
The children have become very interested
in water following blue week. If possible could the children bring in a picture
of water (in any of its many forms) or even better them with water (sea,
river, pool or washing up!) We would like to display them. They can be emailed
to us at mcharlwood@staff.pac.edu.au
