Dear Langley families and friends,
It has been an emotional week in Langley! We
have taken a close look at facial expressions this week and looked at
how our faces can show how we are feeling. We began by looking at pictures of
various faces who were either happy, sad, angry or surprised and
tried to guess how the person was feeling and why. We also used mirrors to
practised making different faces. This is a great experience to help young
children develop their empathy skills as they can begin to recognise their
emotions in others.
Mason - "Sad... crying"
Phoenix - "He's got a happy face"
Riani - "Maybe she's sad because she wants her Mummy"
Nathan - "Happy face"
Unfortunately with all the wet weather this week we have been
cooped up inside a lot - but we made the best of it by watching the rain fall
through the windows. We have been doing some reflecting and
looking back at our cake making experience from a couple of weeks ago.
It's interesting to hear what children can recall and retell to
their peers.
We have also been exploring magnetic blocks on the light table.
Children have enjoyed stacking the blocks as high as they can go and laying
them out flat to create an interesting design.
Have a happy weekend
Brooke, Emily, Georgia and Sarah
