Edgerley

Dear Edgerley Parents,

Another fast and frenetic week in Edgerley this week. This week we have been talking about feelings after Zara shared her 'feelings' pencil with us for Show and Tell. The children were so interested that Zara had to set up a work shop and instruct the children on how to make their own.

This idea of leading others proved popular, as later in the week Nyanwell created a flower workshop so that we could add flowers to our insect garden beside the block mat. They boys were very interested in the blossoming flowers and very quickly a swarm of insects were busy sipping nectar from the flowers.

This week we also took full advantage of the sunshine, playing games and learning new songs on the bottom oval as well as beginning to practice running races for our upcoming Sports Day with Mr Barton. Mr Barton explained how to run in between the lines like a train. He was thrilled with our first efforts and was amazed to discover that most of us stayed in our lane. We practiced running and sideways scuttling, I wonder how else we will be able to move on Sports Day?

What a fantastic day we had on Wednesday in our costumes. Mrs Bishop was thrilled that she had some fellow Star Wars characters to play with and we used the force all day to open and close doors around the Centre! We knew we were in safe hands as we had plenty of Iron Men to keep us safe. We had a few Elsas who kept the room temperature nice and cool and also sang us a few songs at the top of their lungs. We showed the rest of the ELC our lovely costumes on the back lawn and then danced the morning away in our ELC disco.

A small group of children are currently working on a calendar project and have been using different resources to create their own yearly calendar to plot our important events in the classroom. This week we added the seasons, Christmas and Easter to our birthdays. After talking together we have decided to add our teacher’s birthdays, Chinese New Year and New Year’s Eve. If your family has any special celebrations that they participate in during the year please e-mail Mrs Bishop at mbishop@pac.edu.au so that we may add them to our calendar before it is laminated.

Have a lovely weekend
Love Mel, Emma, Cristina and Satin
