Cooper

We have been practicing almost every day in preparation for Sports Day next week. The events that the children will participate in will be running races, duck, duck, goose and an obstacle course. We have been focusing on our starts before our running races and remembering to wait until the teacher says ready, set go before we run across the field. The children in the Cooper room have particularly enjoyed playing duck, duck, goose over the past few weeks and often request the play it during the day.
We have been talking about the house teams for sports day and discussed what each of the house colours are and what they represent. After these conversations the children sorted the coloured crepe paper, cardboard and match sticks into to create individual sports day themed collages.
The Cooper Room children have shown great interest in the story 'Too Many Elephants in this House' written by Ursula Dubosarsky. Over the past few weeks the children have been asking for the same book to be read at story time. From these observations we decided to create a story table, so the children could reenact the story themselves in turn developing their early literacy skills. The children helped to source all of the resources and materials that we needed to recreate the book. "We need some elephants!" said Isaac. So we went searching for all the small elephants in the ELC and even found a large one next to the Angwin room. This week we have also created the second house in the book to add to our story table. This has ignited a brand new interest to our “Too many elephants in our house” story table.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Love Miss Gilbert and Mr Ty
