Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

What a fun and busy morning we had on Thursday for Sports Day. The children had been buzzing with excitement for this big event for the past few weeks. We all did so well participating in the running races, circle games and the obstacle course. You can tell that we had been practicing for weeks! Thank you to all of the families that made it out to help out and cheer on the Cooper room, it made the morning very special for the children.

The Cooper room has been fascinated by anything creepy crawly over the last few weeks. We have 3 new spiny leaf insects in our classroom, which the children will help to care for over the next term. We have added magnifying glasses and note pads which the children have eagerly been observing and sketching the image that they see.

We have created a story table based on the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. The children have been using the laminated pictures to retell the familiar story. Through this experience the children are demonstrating their understanding that the images in a story book represent meaning which they can “read”. We have been using the images in the story as inspiration for our butterfly paintings. We scanned the images from the book and put them on the painting table. The children have created beautiful and creative images, which we will display in the classroom.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
