Mead

Dear Mead Room families and friends,

It’s all about Numeracy!

This week we began to use a graph to collect, represent and then analyse our eye colour data.
We used the information in the graph to answer questions such as: “Which group has less? Which group has more? Blue eyes, Brown eyes and Green eyes.  The children were excited to share their data and add it to the graph, comparisons were drawn between the groups and expressed using the language of mathematics!
Liliana – I think Blue eyes has the most
Cooper – The Blue eyes has more than Brown
We will collate our information over the next few days and display it in the Mead Room.

We have been using natural materials to connect number names and numerals to the quantities they represent.
Zed – That’s my number (3)
William R – I can count bigger than 10!
Haris – 1,2,3,4,5,6,7…..and 8 of course!

The Mead Room has bounced back from our storm surge last week! Thank you for your understanding whilst we navigated a slightly modified program – it illustrates just how resilient your children are.  Thank goodness we had the boat in our room………

Enjoy your weekend!
From Melissa, Elodie and Rosalie
