Dear families and friends,
The children have been keen scientific investigators this
week. We have continued to watch the growth of our Silk Worms, feeding them
multiple times a day to keep them going. Some children have been asking
inquisitive questions about the bodily functions of the silk worms so we have
been observing them closely, waiting with anticipation for them to poo! The
children have also been fascinated about what is going to happen to the silk
worms next, we have been peering into the Langley tank and have discovered some
shiny cocoons in there. We can’t wait until ours change too.
Out in the garden
we have been caring for our fruits, vegetables and plants. Liam noticed some
changes to our tomato plants, they have teeny tiny tomatoes growing out of the
flowers. Hugo was interested to know why the tomato plants had flowers. We will
explore this further in the coming weeks as our plants continue to grow and
change.
Extending on our science investigations further, the hospital play area
has continued to be a hive of activity with the children engaged in small and
large group role play. We have started identifying and labelling our different
body parts both on the inside and outside of our bodies. This has connected in
with our self portraits that we have been creating also. Please take time to
look at our portrait gallery on the left as you enter the classroom.
A reminder for our Tuesday children, we have an ambulance
visiting next Tuesday 7th November at 9am. Please make sure you are here well
before this time or else we ask that you drop off after 9.30am when we will be
back in the classroom.
Best wishes for the weekend,
Ellen, Courtenay, Melissa and Jess
