Hi Cooper families,
On Monday we came into the classroom and noticed that our silkworms had grown quite
significantly over the weekend! We also noticed that there was a small white
ball in the enclosure that resembled “cotton wool”. It was in fact the silkworm
wrapping strands of silk around itself to make a cocoon! Over the week we
continued to collect food for the silkworms and noticed more and more cocoons
being made. Very exciting times in the Cooper room. We can’t wait to see what
happens next.
On Tuesday we had a very
special visit from an ambulance. During this visit, we had the opportunity to
sit in the drivers seat and turn on the very loud siren and slide down the
stretcher at the back of the ambulance. We discussed why we need paramedics and
ambulances in our community and what number we need to call in an emergency.
We have started
getting crafty in preparation for Christmas. We have started to make our very
special gifts to give to our parents for Christmas. This sparked a conversation
about what special things we do with our families over Christmas. Some children
mentioned that they bake cookies to give to family members and put up their
Christmas trees after the pageant. Over the next few weeks Miss C and I will be
sharing our Christmas traditions with the Cooper room. They involve decorating
our own classroom tree and cooking experiences with the children. If you would
like to come in and share your special Christmas tradition with the class,
please let me know, we would love to have you in for a visit!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Love Miss Gilbert and
Miss C
