Chapple

This week, despite the change in weather,  we had a wonderful time with our picnic lunch. The children were so excited and many wanted to eat them at morning tea! They sat around in the new school groups which made it that extra bit special. The children learnt some important new skills in tackling those tricky lunch boxes and I am sure they will now be better prepared for school. Plus it really was fun! I am sure it is an activity which will become part of the starting school preparation at the ELC for many years to come.

A sudden change in the weather brought about some minor flooding of the path and the children decided to be the CFS and prevent the “2’s” from being washed away.

Jonas: We are sweeping the water.
Flynn: To get rid of the water in case the Town Square gets flooded.
Leo: Yeah, stopping the 2’s flooding too!
James: The CFS are special people. When there is a flood, you call them and they sweep the flood.

We thought about all the other special people we had seen this year; who we can call to keep us safe.

Seb: Police.
Alana: Ambulance.
Liliana: Fire truck.

We discussed what was special about the CFS and that they were volunteers. We thought about the word “Volunteer” and why people help other people when they are not getting paid.

Sam: Because in some buildings there might be a fire and they are special.
Jack: Because it is nice.

We thought about what we could do to help people.

Isaac: Help someone with their building.
Leonardo: Charity- something where you put something in the lid. You help them if they are poor and don’t have any money.
Jonas: Play with someone.

What thoughtful and caring children we have in the Chapple Room.
