Dear Mattingley Familes and
Friends,
On Tuesday the Wilkins class
had organised for an Ambulance to come and visit the centre. We were lucky
enough to go and have a look and talk to the Ambulance officers about what an
Ambulance is for and why they have a siren and flashing lights. The children
had the chance to go inside the Ambulance and then slide out the back of it.
The beautiful weather on Wednesday led to us having a picnic lunch.
Before our picnic we talked about what we needed when we went on a picnic. We
agreed that food was important and due to the warmer weather, we needed to make
sure we had sunscreen on and were wearing our hats. We also had to remember to
take our drink bottles. We loaded up a picnic basket with the sandwiches that
had been kindly made for us and lay out the picnic rug on the grass near the
playground. We all enjoyed being out in the fresh air for lunch.
We have also had some beautiful role playing happening in the classroom
this week. We observed some of the children putting on their backpacks, getting
into the wooden cars and driving to school. They moved from one side of the
classroom to the other and once they were there they stated that they were now waiting
to be picked up by dad to go home. It was beautiful to watch this
socio-dramatic play occur as the children all took on different roles and
contributed to the experience.
Have a lovely weekend,
Cass and Liana
