Dear Mead Room families and friends,
We have continued to be on the lookout
for kind and helpful friends in our ELC community, and in our wider PAC
community. We found Anna in the Health
Centre! Anna showed us around her patch of PAC
and we found out that Anna is a nurse, she can help us when we need extra
medical attention in the Early Learning Centre.
She shared with us that she has a stethoscope, a medical bag, lots of
expertise at helping, and a giant magnifying glass with a light on it – that, and the examination bed that goes up and
down. We will continue to be vigilant and be on the watch for helpful friends.
We have happy news! A butterfly emerged from our Mead Room
chrysalis on Thursday morning! Miss
Boler and the children were very surprised, and delighted, to see this new
stage of the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. They gave it time to let its wings dry and
strengthen before letting it go in the outdoor environment. Our other little, stripy caterpillar
friends ate so many leaves, and grew so large that we now have two more
chrysalis (chrysali… chrysalises..), anyway, we have two more! So we are eagerly waiting to see them emerge
too!
The children have been documenting some
of the stages the caterpillars are experiencing, examining them closely,
sharing what they observe and representing their findings in observational
drawings.
Zahli – “The caterpillar, its black, white
and yellow. Eats leaves. A chrysalis, then a butterfly!”
Have a terrific weekend
Melissa and Georgia
