Dear Edgerley families,
We have continued to focus on the concept of Harmony
again this week with the Wednesday children again visiting the Langley Music
Space in the Secondary school to listen to the Junior band practice their
latest jazz piece. Jazz obviously appeals to us because this week we couldn’t
contain the rhythm within us!
“I want to get the harmony in my hands” said Sebastien,
and started to clap along. This encouraged others to find a way to be in
harmony with the music and soon there was a dance floor at the back of the room
with almost all of Edgerley grooving to the beat.
“I’ve got harmony in my body, but mostly in my head!”
exclaimed Rory as he nodded away (followed by lots of leaps and spins). Mr
Newhouse talked to his boys about bringing their different instruments together
to make the same sound and we listened as they practiced cutting off their
notes on the same beat to help make the piece work. Next week we will begin
work on our own soundscape. Fingers crossed it will sound harmonious!
We were thrilled this week to see the children embracing
our number cards and working together or alone to try and order the numerals.
We plan to use these cards for lots of numeracy games in the coming weeks so it
was lovely to observe children working together to share knowledge and complete
the task together.
For those who enjoy the car racing we hope you have a
lovely weekend at the Clipsal, and for those who don’t it's not long to wait
until the roads open next week!
Have a lovely weekend
Mel, Emma and Cris
