Hi Cooper Families,
We started our week off in style with our Dancify concert
on Tuesday morning. What groovy moves all of the children had as they performed
the dances that we have been practicing over the past few weeks. Thank you to
all of the parents who came along to watch and cheer us on.
We have started painting our Harmony Day visual artwork for
next week. We began by introducing the topic of diversity and how we have
similarities and differences to other people. We used rocks as visual
representations of ourselves to start this conversation. First we spoke about
what is the same about the rocks.
Isaac S – they are all rocks
Olivia – these are sort of very little and little and big.
Isaac C – different colours. Grey.
Miss Gilbert – are they all grey or different colours?
Isaac C - all the same.
Larissa – these are all little and this one is bigger. 1, 2
, 3 , 4.
Miss Gilbert – So these rocks have differences but they are
all the same on the inside as they are all rocks.
Miss Gilbert – How are WE different from each other?
Isaac S – I speak Japanese.
Brian – I don’t speak Chinese, I speak English.
Larissa – I speak Chinese and words like this… Bonjour
means hello.
Xavier D – Our hair is different.
Miss Gilbert – What is the same about us?
Giuliana – We have feet and toes.
Linda – Legs
Samuel – rocks. Heads.
Brian – 2 hands.
Isaac C – eyebrows
Miao Miao – a mouth.
Larissa – we don’t have the same faces. Some are black and
some are Spanish.
Isaac S – we speak different languages.
Yash – different noses
For our artwork each child will paint a rock, this rock
will represent them as a person. We will display our finished product next week
on Harmony Day.
Congratulations to Lotti Phillips and her family on the
arrival of their new baby Arthur (Artie) Phillips. We all were lucky enough to meet him
on Tuesday, which the children were very excited about.
We
hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
